Young Researchers & Innovators in Bariatric and Metabolic Endoscopy
Abstract Submission Guidelines

​

The BEWA Congress is pleased to announce a dedicated session for Young Researchers and Innovators in the field of bariatric and metabolic endoscopy. This session aims to provide a platform for the next generation of clinicians, scientists, and entrepreneurs to present their cutting-edge research, novel techniques, and innovative technologies.

The session will be divided into two categories: Research Presentations and Innovation Pitches.

1. Research Presentations

​

  • Format: 4 presentations will be selected.

  • Time: Each presenter will have 5 minutes to present, followed by 2 minutes of Q&A.

  • Content focus:

    • Latest scientific advances in bariatric and metabolic endoscopy

    • Ongoing or completed clinical trials

    • Novel techniques or procedural innovations

    • Translational or applied research with potential clinical impact

  • Abstract structure (max 350 words):

    • Title

    • Authors and affiliations

    • Background and aims

    • Methods

    • Results

    • Conclusion and future perspectives

  • Figures/Tables: Up to 1 figure or 1 table may be included.

2. Innovation Pitches (Start-ups / Innovators)

​

  • Format: 4 start-ups or early-stage innovators will be selected.

  • Time: Each pitch will last 3 minutes, followed by 2 minutes of Q&A.

  • Presentation:

    • One slide only (visual storytelling encouraged).

    • Clearly state the problem, your innovation, and its potential clinical/market impact.

  • Eligibility: Start-ups, early-stage companies, or innovators with novel technologies in bariatric and metabolic endoscopy.

  • Abstract structure (max 250 words):

    • Title of project/innovation

    • Innovator(s) / company name

    • Problem addressed

    • Proposed solution / technology

    • Stage of development (prototype, clinical testing, early adoption)

    • Future vision / expected impact

3. General Information

​

  • Eligibility: Open to early-career researchers (residents, fellows, post-docs, young faculty) and start-ups/innovators.

  • Selection process: Submissions will be peer-reviewed by the BEWA Scientific Committee.

  • Presentation format: Onsite, oral only (no posters).

  • Deadline for submission: October 31st

  • Notification of acceptance: November 28th

Awards and Recognition

  • Best Research Presentation: Free participation in the BEWA Hands-On Course (January 14th, 2026).

  • Best Innovation Pitch: Certificate of recognition and visibility on the BEWA website.

​

The Microsoft CMT service was used for managing the peer-reviewing process for this conference. This service was provided for free by Microsoft and they bore all expenses, including costs for Azure cloud services as well as for software development and support.
